GENERAL TERMS
FOR ONLINE ORDERS
ORDER AVAILABILITY
Available dates for online ordering are listed on our homepage and are updated weekly. Please review these dates before placing your order.
LEAD TIMES
Five days notice is requested for your order.
ORDER CONFIRMATION
Payment is required in full to secure and confirm your order. Orders that have not been paid within 72 hours of scheduled pick up are subject to cancellation. We will attempt to reach you via email before cancelling your order.
PAYING FOR YOUR ORDER
Once your order is submitted you will receive a Square invoice with a secure link for payment within 48 hours. Please do check your spam folder - we often get booted there. Before paying your invoice, please review it carefully to ensure that all the details are correct and don’t hesitate to reach out to us with questions. All invoices include 6 percent Idaho sales tax and a Square credit card processing fee of 2.9 percent.
ORDER CHANGES AND CANCELLATION
We kindly request five (5) days notice for any changes to your order. Although we cannot guarantee that change requests will be possible, we will make every effort to accommodate. All sales are final and we do not issue refunds. Credit can be issued for orders cancelled at least 5 days in advance.
PICKING UP YOUR ORDER
Your order can be collected from our partner pickup location, The Peppered Mercantile, located at 108 N First Ave during their normal business hours on your chosen pick up day. Please check their website to confirm hours as they are, at times, seasonally adjusted.
ORDER HANDLING AND STORAGE
Cupcakes and buttercream layer cakes are topped with Swiss meringue buttercream and absolutely must be served at warm room temperature to avoid a greasy mouthfeel (gross!) We recommend removing your buttercream cake (or cupcakes) from the refrigerator at least 6 hours before service to allow it to come to room temperature. Optimal room temperature is at least 72 degrees F. When a gentle touch easily yields a dollop of buttercream on your fingertip, your cake (or cupcake) is ready to serve.
Items containing ganache, custards, creams, and curds must be refrigerated when not in service and should not be left out for more than 4 hours once they have reached room temperature. Please keep your cake level and out of direct sunlight at all times. Running your AC during transport in the summertime is recommended. The Cakery on First maintains no responsibility for damage to orders caused by improper handling and storage once they are in your possession.
ALLERGEN INFORMATION
The Cakery on First operates in our own dedicated licensed commercial kitchen that is regulated and routinely inspected by the Panhandle Health Department. We are not a cottage food business. All items contain wheat, dairy, eggs, and may have been in contact with traces of other known allergens such as, but not limited to, peanuts, tree nuts and soy. While suitable for those with a gluten-free preference, items sold and labeled as “gluten-free” have been prepared in this same kitchen and are not suitable for those managing celiac disease or serious gluten allergies.
MENU, DESIGN, AND SPECIAL REQUESTS
At this time we are not able to offer off-menu or custom cake flavors. We offer three different design styles for our semi-custom buttercream layer cakes: buttercream florals, Lambeth, or our signature buttercream ruffles with sprinkles. We do not offer character or theme cakes and we do not provide messaging on cakes (i.e. “Happy Birthday!). Please note that each cake we design is unique. Images shown on the website are examples of past orders and while your cake will be similar, it will not be an exact reproduction of any design. For custom cake orders click here.
