answers to frequently asked questions
Do you have a storefront?
Not yet but our full service commercial kitchen facility is located on 1st Avenue and is licensed and regularly inspected by our local health inspector at the Panhandle Health Department. Order pick up is available at The Pickled Kitchen downtown during their normal business hours on your selected pick up date.
Do you have a phone number I can call?
We don’t. We’re a little bakery and right now only have the capacity to receive and manage orders online. When you reach out, we promise you’ll receive a prompt response. Please do check your spam folder for our reply as we often get booted there.
How do I confirm my order?
If your invoice has been paid in accordance with our General Terms your order is confirmed. There is no need to re-confirm.
Can you make a cake flavor that’s not on your menu?
For now, we do not make off-menu or custom flavors. If you don’t see the cake flavor you’re looking for on either our Buttercream or Picnic & Party Cakes page, we do not offer it.
Do you do novelty cakes?
We don’t. We stick to what we’re practiced at which is anything you see an example of on the website (i.e. buttercream flowers, Lambeth, sugar flowers, and our buttercream ruffles & house-made sprinkles.) We don’t do character or theme cakes and we do not provide custom messaging on cakes (ex. “Happy Birthday______!”)
How do I place an order for a cake?
All of our semi-custom cakes and cupcakes are available for order on our Layer Cakes page.
How far in advance should I order my semi-custom cake?
During market season (May-October) seven days advance notice for your order is greatly appreciated. Three days minimum is necessary. Once you place your order we will review it and send you an invoice. Payment in full confirms your order. For more information please see our general terms.
Do you deliver?
For wedding and event orders, yes. Delivery charges may apply. Please contact with the details of your event for a quote. All other orders can be collected from our our local pick-up partner, The Pickled Kitchen, located at 312 N First Avenue, during their normal business hours on designated Saturdays dates.
What if there are no pick-up dates for semi-custom cakes near the time of my event?
We’re a small bakery and our goal is to provide as many collection dates each month as possible in hopes that at least one will work out perfectly for you. If our closest pick-up or delivery date to your event is still a bit far away we recommend selecting the closest date available and popping the cake right into the freezer. With the exception of cakes that contain crème patissière, all of our cakes freeze beautifully for up to 4 weeks.
Can I choose the color of my buttercream flowers?
For fully custom cakes, yes, but for our semi-custom cakes, no. Streamlining the design helps us make the ordering process quick and easy for you and it helps us serve as many customers as possible. Rest assured that the arrangement of the flowers is unique from cake to cake so if you’re a repeat customer (thank you!) you’ll get a fresh look every time.
How do I place an order for market bakes?
Simply use the order form on our Market Menu page.
How do I order a custom cake for a wedding or special event?
Click right here. Custom dessert table information can also be found on this page.
Can you donate a cake to my organization?
Possibly yes! We love supporting good causes around the community with cake. We get a number of requests for donations so we do have some parameters in place. Visit our Giving page for more info and to submit an inquiry form.
How should I serve and store my cake?
All of our cakes are best served at warm (72 degrees F) room temperature. Our Swiss meringue buttercream is made exclusively with real grade AA butter and nobody likes eating a cold stick of butter! Temperature makes all the difference between a light, silky buttercream and a greasy one. To ensure that your cake is at it’s very best, please follow the serving instructions on our Cake Serving Tips page. You’ll also find a slicing guide to help you maximize servings.
Do you make gluten-free cakes?
At this time, we do not. We get a number of requests for them and look forward to offering them in the future. We do offer a few gluten-free items on our market table.
Do you make vegan cakes?
We do not. All of our recipes are heavily dependent on eggs, butter, and multiple other forms of dairy.
