Serving and storing your cake - Buttercream Layer Cakes

Our Swiss meringue buttercream is made exclusively with grade AA butter and serving temperature makes the difference between a light, silky buttercream and a cold, greasy one . To ensure that your cake is at its very best, it must be served at room temperature. Please follow the serving instructions below:

Addison

Storage: This cake can be stored on the countertop for up to 24 hours or in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
Temper time: 3-4 hours at room temperature 
Freezer: yep, you can freeze this cake. Allow cake to rest in refrigerator overnight before transferring to the counter and bringing to room temperature.

Amelia

Storage: This cake can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
Temper time: 2-3 hours at room temperature 
Freezer: yep, you can freeze this cake. Allow cake to rest in the refrigerator overnight before transferring to the counter and bringing to room temperature.

Ellie

Storage: refrigerator (up to 4 days.)
Temper time: 5 hours at room temperature 
Freezer: yep, you can freeze this cake. Allow cake to rest in refrigerator overnight before transferring to the counter and bringing to room temperature.

Anna June

Storage: refrigerator (up to 4 days)
Temper time: 2-3 hours at room temperature

SLICING YOUR CAKE

Slicing your cake is best done with a thin, sharp knife. Wiping it clean between each cut will make it easier to slice. Pro food styling tip: you can also use a long strand of unflavored dental floss (no mint please) to cut cleanly through the slices. Once your cake is cut, press a clean piece of plastic wrap directly onto the cut side of the cake covering the corners and store as directed above. 

Serving and storing your cake - Picnic & Party Cakes

Slicing these cakes in a classic birthday slice wedge style is recommended. The custard fillings are a bit soft to be able to follow the buttercream slicing guides above.

Boston Cream Pie, Victoria Sponge Cake, Coconut Passionfruit Layer Cake

Storage: These cakes should be kept cold (up to 4 days) and can be served straight from the refrigerator
Temper time: n/a
Freezer: The Victoria Sponge Cake will freeze although the quality post-thaw has not been tested. The Boston Cream Pie and Coconut Cake both contain pastry cream which will separate if frozen so please don’t freeze these cakes.

Classic Birthday Cake, Confetti Cake

Storage: Store on the countertop for up to 24 hours, otherwise please refrigerate (up to 4 days.)
Temper time: n/a
Freezer: Well wrapped, these cakes are freezer friendly

S’mores Cake

Storage: Refrigerator (up to 4 days.)
Temper time: n/a
Freezer: Due to the delicate nature of the marshmallow frosting, freezing this cake would likely be a disaster. The fridge is good.
